Beyond the Canvas: Wire & Wildflowers
Saturday, October 10th, from 3:00PM-5:00PM @ Midway Art Studios.
Create a whimsical floral artwork that begins as a painting and grows right off the canvas at our 3-D Mixed Media Workshop led by artist Margie Rigney.
In this mixed-media workshop, you’ll paint a colorful vase and background on a canvas block, then bring your bouquet to life with sculptural flowers made from twisted aluminum wire. Pre-drilled holes in the canvas will guide the placement of your wire stems, allowing your flowers to extend above the painting and transform it into a unique three-dimensional work of art.
You’ll explore painting, color, composition, and simple wire-shaping techniques while creating a piece that is completely your own. No two bouquets will be alike!
